Due to lack of practical knowledge many peoples still think that diamond cut is the same as diamond shapes they've seen in diamonds, the princess-cut, round-cut and so on.

But practically speaking, in the world of diamond grading, diamond cut refers to something else. Diamond cut means how well a jeweler has cut the diamond to achieve maximum brilliance or the glittering sparkles you can see when you turn your diamond in the light and the carat size. Diamonds that are poorly cut often sell at a cheaper rate than the brilliant cut diamonds. Interestingly, 90% of diamonds aren't cut for optimum brilliance. Proportion, finish, symmetry and polish are the four major factors involved in diamond cut.

Indeed, the word cut is easily confused between the shape of the diamond and the way it is proportioned.

To be honest, though, I think the fact that labs such as the GIA are now grading the cut make it more obvious to customers.  They have been doing this only since 2006, but certainly a worthwhile exercise, as the cut is as important as the other Cs.

I am willing to go as far as to say that of the 4 C's, cut has, by far, the most importance.
An excellent cut can make up for inferior color or clarity.

Well that is nice information has been post in this thread.I would also like to add that The most popular of diamond cuts is the modern round brilliant, whose facet arrangements and proportions have been perfected by both mathematical and empirical analysis. Also popular are the fancy cuts which come in a variety of shapes—many of which were derived from the round brilliant. We must be the change we want to see
