Hi everyone,

I'm new to this and am looking to get an expert's help on whether I've found a good diamond.  I've found one that looks promising for about $13,100.  I'm particularly interested if you think the inclusions are a problem (i've been told it has been visually inspected and appears clean to the naked eye).  I'm attaching the GIA report and a photo.  Would appreciate any thoughts or advice you have... Thanks!

Firstly, the stated price is very good.

With regards to the stone being truly eye-clean, it's really impossible to say from the photo as it is obviously a 'zoomed-in' image which does clearly show the inclusions.  To determine whether the stone is truly eye-clean one would need to examine the stone up close.  Is it the seller advising the stone is eye-clean, or an independent entity?

If you are in no real hurry I would suggest perhaps seeing if you can find a stone that has no inclusions in the table as often if inclusions are in the 'right' place, clever setting hides them completely thereby removing any uncertainty.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hi guys

He most exquisite gift to receive is diamond jewelry. The intimacy and surprise in giving diamond jewelry makes it the most precious of all gifts. Choosing the right moment, the right place, and the right atmosphere are as important as the gift itself.
Here are some helpful tips that make the gift of giving diamond jewelry even more special and more memorable:
Couples, young and old alike, enhance their relationships with a universal renown gift of diamond jewelry.
Discretely determine her preference in diamond jewelery so that the surprise is beyond her wildest dreams.
Retain the element of surprise by investigating her desires without her knowledge.
Like her zodiac sign, her diamond jewelry should reflect her personality and style because wherever she wears it she will be making the 24/7 statement of, "This is how much he loves me!"
Setting an affordable, yet comfortable spending limit on diamond jewelry is an important lifetime consideration.
Part of the "Diamond Experience" is to celebrate the occasion at which the diamond jewelry is given, as this will always be a memorable moment.
Let us match your desires with her dreams. Let us help you select right piece of diamond jewelry for the "woman of your dreams".

Thanks for all friends

Diamonds are forever!  Shop smart and always look around.  Know what you want and what kind of budget you are working with and be patient.  Ask others to help or advise before you make this lifetime purchase.

On the face of it, the diamond looks good for the price.

Assuming you're planning to buy it online, then make sure the retailer has a no-quibble money back guarantee in place.  It's OK them telling you that the diamond is eye-clean, but you should be able to see for yourself then decide whether you want to keep the diamond or not.

With a GIA certificate, with an SI1 round brilliant cut, it should indeed be eye-clean, but remember, the larger the diamond, the more prominent the inclusions will become.

I'd be inclined to proceed but make sure you're familar - and satisfied in advance - with their returns policy.

SimonW,

Great point about the Return Policy, and one I had previously overlooked, so thanks for raising it.

To the OP, if you are purchasing online, most reputable stores will offer a comprehensive 30 day return policy.
